English and Afrikaans | In person or via ZoomLijlanie Viljoen is a compassionate and culturally attuned Certified Divorce Coach who supports individuals navigating the emotional, practical, and relational complexities of separation and divorce. Her approach is calm, structured, non-judgemental, and future-focused, helping clients gain clarity, build confidence, and make purposeful decisions during a time that can feel overwhelming and uncertain.
As an accredited Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, she brings a specialized skillset to her divorce coaching practice. Her background and qualifications in Law, Commerce, and Theology, add a broad and insightful perspective. Her legal background enables her to ask thoughtful, reality-focused questions, while her theological studies have given her a deep appreciation of different faiths, values, and spiritual perspectives. Lijlanie helps clients identify their priorities, prepare for conversations, communicate more effectively, and work constructively with the professionals supporting their separation.
Growing up in South Africa, one of the world's most culturally and linguistically diverse countries, taught Lijlanie to listen deeply and appreciate different ways of thinking, communicating, and resolving conflict. Two decades of living in New Zealand have further strengthened her understanding of the diverse communities and families that make up Aotearoa. She is particularly sensitive to the influence of culture, faith, family traditions, and values on decisions about separation, parenting, and the future.
Lijlanie encourages clients to move beyond established patterns and consider creative, realistic pathways forward. She equips them with practical communication and conflict-management tools, supporting emotional readiness and helping them identify solutions that align with their values while keeping the best interests of their children at the centre. Her goal is for clients to emerge from the process feeling empowered, informed, and equipped to move forward with dignity.
Alongside her coaching practice, Lijlanie is an AMINZ Certified Mediator. Drawing on her legal experience, cultural awareness, and calm facilitation style, she supports families in mediation to have constructive conversations, understand different perspectives, and explore practical and sustainable agreements. She creates an inclusive environment where each voice can be heard and cultural and personal values are respected, with a particular focus on achieving dignified outcomes that support children and the family's future.
